Where is the Euro and the Economies of Easter Europe Heading?

The World Affairs Council and City University of Seattle are proud to host an International Breakfast Symposium on the Debt Crisis in the EU – 10 Years after the European Union formed.  This  Symposium will feature Dr. Menbere Workie Tiruneh, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Economics & International MBA Instructor.  Dr Tiruneh is a distinguished economist and faculty member from City University of Seattle in Bratislava. He will share his analysis and insights regarding where the EU stands today,  10 years after converting to the Euro.

Following Dr Tiruneh four guest panelists will provide context and perspective from their point of view. Two international panelists will be speaking to challenges in the EU, representing member and nonmember nations.  The two domestic panelists will speak to the implications and its  impacts on US businesses.

  • Tom Clevenger – Senior Vice President/General Manager – Global Parts for Navistar, formerly General Manager for PACCAR Parts Europe, a division of PACCAR Inc.
  • RNDr. Petr Budinský, CSc.; Vice Rector and professor of finance for Vysoka Skola Financni a Spravni, the largest private institution of higher education in the Czech Republic
  • Dr. Jan Rebro; VP, European Operations for CityU, responsible for five CityU European partnerships
